Paid Time-Off

  • Annual leave in Mali is equivalent to two and a half days per month of work accrued, for a total of 30 calendar days per year (working days and weekends included). 
  • For convenience, this is considered the equivalent of 22 working days per year.

Sick Leave

Employees in Mali are entitled to sick leave if they provide a doctor’s certificate.

Maternity Leave

  • The female contract employee with at least nine months of creditable service with the employer will be entitled, upon properly documented request, to 14 weeks of unpaid maternity leave. 
  • This is limited to a maximum of 6 weeks before confinement and 8 weeks after confinement.

Paternity Leave

Fathers in Mali are entitled to 7 days’ paternity leave.

The duration period in Mali is as follows:

    • 8 days for staff paid by the day or week; 
    • 1 month for the worker whose monthly salary is paid; 
    • 2 months for supervisors and assimilated employees; 
    • 3 months for executives and management

Employees receive severance pay of 20% to 30% of monthly salary depending on the length of service
