Employer Contribution

  • 7.00% of the employer’s emoluments must be contributed to social security to cover family benefits

    The standard VAT rate is 18% in Senegal. Activities related to tourism are subject to a reduced rate of 10%.

Employees are generally entitled to 24 days of paid annual leave.

Sick Leave

In Senegal, workers are entitled to a minimum of five days of paid sick leave per year.

Maternity Leave

In Senegal, women are entitled to 14 weeks’ paid maternity leave – 8 of which must be taken postnatal.

Paternity Leave

There is no statutory paternity leave in Senegal.

  • In Senegal, the general notice period for termination is 15 days. However, technicians wishing to resign must provide two months’ notice.

    Employers may terminate workers for just cause with a written notice.

    • Executives and similar staff: 3 months’ notice
    • Monthly paid white-collar workers, blue-collar workers, and permanent hourly, daily, or weekly paid staff: eight days to one month, depending on their seniority.

Employees in Senegal are entitled to severance pay for each year of service at a rate of 25 to 40% of their average wages over the past 12 months.
