Contributions are levied on a monthly basis on total remuneration paid, capped to GNF 2,500,000.
Value-added tax (VAT)
The standard VAT rate is 18% in Guinea.
Exports and international carriage are zero-rated in the country.
Paid Time-Off
Employees are generally entitled to two and a half days of paid annual leave per month worked.
Sick Leave
In Guinea, workers are generally entitled to up to 26 weeks of paid sick leave.
Maternity Leave
In Guinea, women are entitled to a maximum of 14 weeks of paid maternity leave.
Paternity Leave
There is no statutory paternity leave in Guinea.
‘Personal reasons’ deemed as valid according to Guinea’s Labor Laws are as follows:
The employer must summon the employee to an interview by giving 5 days’ written notice and must stipulate the reasons for dismissal. The employer must then wait 2 days after the interview before dismissing the employee.
Any reduction in the workforce within the company that is caused by redundancy must go through the Trade Union.
Unless they are dismissed for grave misconduct, an employee is entitled to the following notice periods:
Middle managers and similar: 3 months
When a fixed-term contract expires, the employee is eligible for severance pay of 5% of the total wages for the contracted period.
Employees under an indefinite term contract who have completed at least 12 months of service are generally entitled to receiving severance pay of at least 50 hours’ worth of wages for hourly workers and 25% of one month’s wage for monthly paid workers.
