Everything we did to upgrade the client experience in 2024

Year in, year out, our teams across Africa work with the goal of doing better for our clients and for Africa. Excellence is no static thing, not an acquired quality. In the EOR, payroll, and PEO industries, the goalpost for “excellence” is constantly moving, and we strive to make the strides we need to ensure that we keep up with and even exceed rising industry standards.

So here is everything we have done in 2024 to upgrade the client experience at no additional cost to our clients:

1.    Obtained our ISO/IEC 27001 certification for even better data security and peace of mind

Over a year in the making, and mobilising the totality of our workforce across Africa, this achievement is the result of an organisation-wide effort. Every single one of our team members has undergone training and our policies have been updated to provide the maximum level of cybersecurity. Awarded by the British Standards Institution, a global standards and certifications body based in the UK, this ISO 27001 provides next-level data protection from cyberthreats of all kinds: data breaches, data thefts, and privacy leaks among others. Not only does this certification offer peace of mind to our clients, but it also opens doors to opportunity they are working with other businesses or in industries that require all processes to be duly ISO certified. Together, we are bringing international quality services to our clients across 46+ African countries.

2. FREE life insurance for all our EOR clients’ eligible workers

Because there is no price tag on the value of life, we have worked together with international insurer Unisure to help workers feel safer in Africa, and to ease our clients’ fears and burdens. Every one of our EOR clients’ eligible employees is entitled to free life insurance totalling up to $20,000. Through this initiative, we are supporting workers across 46+ African countries and are also helping to spread the practice of employer-sponsored insurance in Africa. To a number of our clients benefiting from this offer, being able to extend life insurance perks to their workers helps to set them apart from other employers on the job market.

3. Customisable and reliable health insurance across Africa with Unisure

In Africa, medical insurance is still not widespread. In 2016, only 17% of the population had access to health insurance, with countries like Niger being covered at less than 1%. Since health insurance is directly connected to the idea of universal health care, we wanted to make our own contribution to help Africa grow, but also to help our clients better protect their employees. With these customisable health plans underwritten by Unisure, we offer greater safety and peace of mind at competitive prices, enabling our clients to set themselves apart on the job market.

4. Grown our team to better cater to our clients’ evolving needs

At Africa HR Solutions, we have a human-first approach to business. While we embrace technology and keep up to date with the latest developments, we never forget that, at heart, our business is one of people helping people. This commitment to being a human-first has resulted in our team growing in size and welcoming new talents. In this way, we can still give the same individual attention to each client, and we can keep fulfilling our promise to provide a dedicated Key Account Manager for every client. More broadly, this also enables us to uphold our promise of offering a single point of contact across 46+ African countries. With new talent comes new possibilities, and we are eager to help our clients complete even more of their projects with the same high quality, human-first service they are used to.

5. Established an Advisory Committee with international experts

The EOR (Employer of Record), PEO (Professional Employer Organisation), and payroll industries in Africa are dynamic, and are constantly undergoing changes or experiencing trends. To better understand these advancements, we have established an Advisory Committee which comprises such renowned experts as:

  • Pete Tiliakos, Principal Analyst & Strategic Advisor, and a respected thought leader in the global employer of record and global payroll markets

  • Mike Kelly, Senior Partner & Risk Advisor at Baldwin Group, a leading employee benefits professional with strong experience in the global NGO and international development sectors

  • Nana Frimpong, Chief Operating Officer at Social Impact, a senior leader in the international development sector, with extensive experience delivering government-funded mandates and managing supply chains across the African continent.

With the combined skills, experience and market understanding of these seasoned Africa experts, Africa HR Solutions can make more relevant service offers, anticipating our clients’ needs across Africa.

6. Participated in the world-renowned Africa debate

Because we want to be part of the larger conversation about Africa, and because we strongly believe that there is much for us to contribute, Africa HR Solutions attended and even sponsored the world-renowned Africa Debate in London in June 2024. Our Managing Director, Edan Latzelsberger, was a speaker and engaged with decision-makers and other African experts, gaining fresh, high-level perspectives to better inform our understanding of Africa and Africa’s growth throughout the years.

7. Hosted webinars to discuss and engage with our clients

Providing valuable information and guidance to our clients is one of our top priorities. To offer this Africa-specific information, we hosted a webinar entitled “Protecting Employees: Life & Health Insurance Across Africa – Full Webinar” together with experts like Niel Liebenberg from Unisure insurance, Mike Kelly from the Baldwin Group, and our Head of Legal & Compliance, Mark du Preez, as well as our Head of Commercial, Alex Daruty. Our clients as well as other interested parties were able to ask questions and find out more about specific issues surrounding life and health insurance in Africa.

8. Our dedication to client experience was confirmed by a GPA award win

Our team was honoured to receive the “Regional Payroll Provider of the Year” award at the Global Payroll Awards 2024. This recognition is a global one, and is not only limited to the African region, which is even more gratifying for our teams who work with the idea of offering international level services in Africa. This award confirms our dedication to excellence and to our clients’ success throughout the African continent.
